Ever since that day, my brothers have avoided me whenever they saw me from afar.

I wasn’t sure if it was because they were afraid of me, or because seeing me brought back the shame of that day.

I often clapped rhythmically and cackled mockingly at my brothers whenever they ran away upon meeting me.

“Lately, the Lupeon royal family seems unusually busy.”

“I suppose even someone who knows nothing can clearly see something suspicious is going on.”

“Could they be plotting some mischief?”

“No. They’re just collectively doing something foolish, so you can safely ignore them.”

Meanwhile, the wedding drew ever closer.

I studied imperial etiquette and memorized in advance the profiles of all the distinguished guests invited to the ceremony.

“Don’t exhaust yourself dealing with everyone individually—just pass most matters to me. Even a fly becomes irritating if it keeps buzzing around.”

“Family disputes should stay within the family. The moment Your Majesty gets involved, it turns into a political issue. My family members are fools who’ve never used their brains in their lives, so it doesn’t matter for them… but the Lupeon Kingdom has many clever ministers who love exploiting such fools.”

Ministers who were intelligent only in their eagerness to manipulate a puppet king from behind the scenes.

“If this escalates into a conflict between the kingdom and the empire, it’ll become a real headache. So please don’t interfere. I’ll settle the royal family’s quarrels within the family.”

“…Yet you seem rather pleased about it.”

Oops. I should’ve controlled my expression better. I got so carried away with excitement that I forgot to drop the clown act.

Had I ever felt this exhilarated in my life? Trampling the Lupeon royal family under my feet was far more thrilling than I’d imagined.

“That’s right. I always respect the princess’s wishes.”

Contrary to rumors painting him as a barbaric brute who was crude and impossible to reason with, Levanfel turned out to be quite a gentleman.

“I’ve been curious about something for a while.”

“Then why didn’t you ask earlier? If you’re curious about something, just ask right away.”

“Does Counselor Jaerim know that Your Majesty has been… um… doing that every night?”

I mumbled vaguely, keeping my voice low and whispering discreetly so as not to draw attention from those around us.

I was curious—how many people actually knew his secret?

Walking beside me, Levanfel firmly shook his head.

“No. Jaerim is trustworthy, but since knowing it wouldn’t benefit him, I never told him.”

“So no one else knows?”

“You know, don’t you?”

Did that mean I was the only one sharing this secret with him until now? Well, I suppose that applied to me too.

My secret was easy to hide since it wasn’t externally visible. Though it was awkward that my wounds healed instantly—I simply pretended to be in pain, and that was that.

But Levanfel was different. Everything about him changed—from his hair color to the sealing spells on his body. And if his secret were exposed, he’d be killed.

Keeping such an outwardly obvious secret completely hidden from everyone must have been incredibly difficult…

“You managed to conceal it well, Counselor Jaerim, despite always being at His Majesty’s side.”

Levanfel shrugged his shoulders as if it were nothing, then gazed straight ahead and answered loudly,

“Unfortunately, I never happen to meet Jaerim in my bedroom at night.”

Swish!

No sooner had Levanfel finished speaking than the sound of papers fluttering to the floor echoed ahead.

Turning my head, I saw Jaerim standing frozen in place, coming from the opposite direction, his mouth agape and his face deeply scowling.

‘Did he overhear us?’

I rolled my eyes slightly, but Levanfel remained utterly composed, his expression unchanged.

“Y-Your Majesty! What on earth did you just say?”

Jaerim stepped briskly toward us, his expression grave, stepping right over the papers he’d dropped.

‘So he did hear us.’

I bit down hard on my dry lips and glanced at Levanfel, but he remained perfectly calm.

“What are you talking about?”

“Why would I—why would I possibly go to Your Majesty’s bedroom at night?! And why would that be ‘unfortunate’?!”

Ah.

Levanfel’s face remained indifferent, but the glint in his eyes gave it away.

‘He’s teasing him.’

No wonder he’d deliberately shouted that last line so loudly—it was meant to be overheard.

“Jaerim, eavesdropping on others’ conversations isn’t a good habit.”

“Y-Your Majesty! When did I ever eavesdrop?!”

“You just heard my conversation with the princess.”

“I didn’t eavesdrop—I just happened to hear it while walking by! …Your Highness, please don’t misunderstand what His Majesty said!”

Seeing him frantically flail his hands and feet in a desperate attempt to explain himself, I instantly understood why Levanfel enjoyed teasing Jaerim.

‘His reactions are entertaining.’

He was as lively as a freshly caught fish flopping about on the deck.

“It’s alright.”

I clasped my hands together in front of me and smiled calmly.

“Now that Your Highness says that, my heart feels much lighter—”

“I’m the kind of person who respects others’ different tastes.”

“But can’t you respect me, too—not just my tastes?!”

Still smiling playfully at the corner of his lips, Levanfel brushed past the flustered Jaerim and picked up the papers he’d dropped onto the corridor floor.

“Jaerim, what are these?”

“…Ah. I was on my way to deliver them for your review.”

At the mention of official business, Jaerim immediately snapped back to his senses, cleared his throat, and swiftly gathered the scattered papers.

“Everyone’s clamoring to pay their respects to the princess before the wedding.”

“Is all of this correspondence addressed to the princess?”

“Yes. They’re all welcoming greetings from those eager to meet Your Highness.”

Jaerim waved the bundle of papers in his hand. Even at a glance, the quantity was staggering.

“It’d take years to meet them all, even if I saw just one person per day.”

Having never made friends or socialized during my time in the Lupeon Kingdom, such gatherings felt unfamiliar to me.

Seeing my horrified expression and clear reluctance, Levanfel quickly intervened.

“The princess clearly dislikes this. Reject them all, Jaerim.”

“That wouldn’t be a wise choice.”

“My order, and you’re refusing it?”

“It’s not refusal—it’s simply my duty. My role is to advise His Majesty.”

Jaerim pulled out several pre-marked letters and handed them to me.

“Are you planning to completely isolate the princess from high society? She’s just arrived from the kingdom and hardly knows anyone—it must be rather lonely.”

“I’m here.”

“…Do you realize that a husband who says that is widely considered the worst kind?”

Jaerim narrowed his eyes coldly at Levanfel before continuing.

“If someone spreads idle rumors, there’ll be no one to set things straight immediately. What the princess needs right now is someone who’ll stand by her side and fight for her in society.”

“Why would she need that? I’ll just have anyone who causes trouble beheaded.”

“Do you intend to make the princess a social outcast like you, Your Majesty? Or would you prefer she gain a reputation as a tyrant like you?”

After sharply rebuking Levanfel, Jaerim turned to offer me advice.

“It would be wise, Your Highness, to gather many allies in high society. In those circles, words fly faster than swords. That’s why I’ve shortlisted some influential figures for you.”

“So if I become close to all these people…”

“I’m not saying you must. Not all of them are good people.”

Jaerim’s face bore no emotion. Speaking with the detached air of someone simply doing his job, he continued expressionlessly,

“Some deal in illegal narcotics, others handle dirty work behind the scenes. Yet they’ve amassed considerable influence through such means.”

Levanfel, who’d been playful until now, instantly hardened his expression the moment Jaerim finished speaking. He swiftly blocked the letters Jaerim was handing to me.

“Jaerim, I don’t think the princess needs to know about such people.”

“No. She must. After all, she’ll soon become Empress of the Empire.”

Dodging Levanfel’s hand, Jaerim handed the letters to me again.

“It’s your choice, Your Highness, whether to keep them close and use them, or discard them. No one would dare call you wicked for using them to obtain what you desire.”

He wasn’t wrong.

I had struck a deal with Levanfel and obtained immense power—enough to make my entire family kneel before me in one fell swoop.

Thus, I also bore the responsibility that came with it.

“I understand what Counselor Jaerim means.”

I reached out and snatched all the letters from Jaerim’s hands, cradling them against my chest.

“So it’s my choice whether to fight alone as a social outcast, or to gather powerless allies of my own—ones not recommended by you—and fight alongside them?”

It didn’t have to be the people Jaerim recommended.

Watching me hold the heavy bundle of letters against my chest, Jaerim clapped his hands as if genuinely satisfied—as though he’d hoped I’d act exactly this way.

“You’re wise, Your Highness.”

Yet despite his approving applause, his eyes remained cold.

He was the Chief Counselor, renowned for his competence—so much so that even in the Lupeon Kingdom, people wondered why he stayed beside a tyrant rumored to be the worst.

Jaerim was the Emperor’s Chief Counselor.

He wasn’t my man.

“The princess truly is remarkable.”

Seeing Levanfel beam as if he himself had received the praise, Jaerim frowned.

“Your Highness is wise—so why is Your Majesty acting so smug?”

“Jaerim, your neck’s been itching lately, hasn’t it?”

“If you cut off my head, there’ll be no one to handle affairs while you remain comfortably idle. Are you sure that’s fine?”

‘These two really suit each other.’

They snapped and snarled at each other, yet neither seemed truly displeased.

Within this imperial palace, Jaerim seemed to be the only one who could speak to Levanfel so bluntly. Conversely, Jaerim was likely the only one who ever drew close to Levanfel.

“Jaerim, how’s the wedding preparation coming along?”

“The hall for the ceremony is nearly ready. Would you like to inspect it?”

Though it was a facade, it was still the place where my wedding would take place.

“Alright.”

As I nodded, Levanfel took the letters from my arms and handed them back to Jaerim, then escorted me toward the ceremonial hall.

“Wow.”

Long tapestries embroidered with the emblem of the World Tree—the symbol of the Empire—in gold and crimson hung grandly, and rare, vibrantly colored fresh flowers filled the space.

It was a breathtaking sight, rare in this dying world.

“My mind feels clearer already.”

Intoxicated by the fragrant floral scent, I felt pleasantly dazed—as refreshed as in the days before the World Tree began to wither.

Just then—

“We’ve purified the area by sprinkling holy water throughout, so it should feel invigorating.”

A familiar yet sacred voice interrupted from behind us.

Startled, I turned sharply to see a man in white priestly robes with long golden hair.

His mere presence seemed to instantly transform the atmosphere of the hall, filling it with pristine air as if teeming with life.

“Oh, Lord Elihu. You’re here.”

Jaerim, standing beside me, approached the unfamiliar man with warm familiarity.

‘Elihu?’

I’d heard of him—the youngest ever to answer the divine call and rise to the rank of Archpriest.

The priest with the highest divine power among all current Archpriests.

In other words—

‘He’s exactly the Archpriest I need to avoid!’

He and I were fundamentally incompatible.

Panicking, I hastily squeezed myself behind Levanfel’s back before Elihu’s gaze could meet mine. Levanfel, caught off guard by the sudden encounter, stiffened abruptly.

“I didn’t realize Lord Elihu was still here.”

“I’ve been sprinkling holy water to ward off malevolent forces and offering prayers to Lord Semula for His Majesty’s wedding… Your Imperial Majesty.”

“Elihu. It’s been a while.”

Levanfel greeted him, subtly shielding me from Elihu’s line of sight.

“Elihu, had I known you were here, I’d have come later. Did we disturb you?”

“Not at all. How could His Majesty’s visit be a disturbance? Anyone daring to say so would surely face divine punishment from Lord Semula.”

After exchanging pleasantries with Levanfel, Elihu turned his gaze.

“So you’re the princess of whom I’ve heard rumors.”

Here it comes—my turn!

Elihu’s eyes naturally shifted toward me behind Levanfel’s back.

“A pleasure to make your acquaintance. I am Elihu, Archpriest and servant of Lord Semula.”

“N-Nice to meet you. I’m Teriella Lupeon.”

I’d heard that Archpriests needed physical contact to verify one’s divine aura, but the overwhelming sanctity radiating from him made me dread even eye contact—he might see right through me.

Clutching Levanfel’s arm, I peeked out just enough to inspect Elihu with my eyes.

“The princess seems wary in this unfamiliar place, Elihu. Please understand.”

“Of course, Your Majesty… Your Highness, please don’t trouble yourself.”

Elihu offered a gentle smile. Just his smile alone felt like a refreshing breeze.

Yet for some reason, his green eyes fixed on me were utterly icy—as if piercing straight through my soul.

“Elihu, how long do you plan to stay in the Empire? I heard you were leaving again for volunteer work.”

Levanfel, sensing the odd tension, lightly diverted the conversation while blocking Elihu’s gaze.

“Ah… yes. I had planned to depart for volunteer service.”

‘Why past tense?’

Elihu smiled—a beatific, angelic warmth that somehow filled me with unease.

And that unease swiftly became reality.

“I’ll be stepping back from this round of service.”

Elihu’s gaze, like a skipping record, returned once more to me behind Levanfel’s back.

“I think I’ll stay in the Empire for a while.”

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
