Levanfel, pulling his hood down low to keep it from falling off, scanned his surroundings. After days of trudging through the mountains, his shoes were worn out and his clothes were torn in multiple places.

He didn’t search the laboratory where Teriella had been kidnapped or its vicinity—it was obvious the Royal Knights would be combing through that area. Instead, he scaled cliffs to inspect caves and checked the space behind waterfalls.

When he noticed the number of knights searching the mountains steadily increasing, he left the task to them and headed down to the nearest village, considering the possibility that she might have already exited the mountains and entered the village.

Unable to clearly reveal his identity, she would likely seek a place where lowering her head or wearing a hood wouldn’t seem suspicious to fill her empty stomach.

With Viscount Liranef captured and his patronage cut off, she’d look for cheap accommodations and probably rest briefly before moving again.

She’d likely avoid ordinary taverns, where suspicious attire would draw attention, and refrain from wandering around in broad daylight when crowds were thick.
