A Different Husband Every Night (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 12
I couldn’t bring myself to speak. My mind had gone completely blank, leaving me unable to think of what to say.
Levanfel grinned mischievously and swiftly stripped off his shirt. Beneath the moonlight, his muscular body was clearly exposed, inevitably marked with the sealing spell.
Perhaps it was just habit.
The moment I saw the spell, I instinctively reached out my hand without even realizing it.
But before my hand could touch his chest, Levanfel caught it midair.
Levanfel cast a sensual gaze downward.
“Since there’s no one around to interrupt us today, how about we take our time testing it?”
Then, slowly guiding my hand that he’d caught in midair, he placed it slightly below his chest.
“You’re curious whether pouring holy power into a different spot would produce any effect, aren’t you?”
His voice, unbearably sweet, whispered seductively into my ear.
As if under a spell, I followed Levanfel’s voice and channeled holy power into my palm.
But, as expected, nothing happened.
“Seems like it has no effect here.”
Levanfel grasped my wrist and slid my hand downward, this time resting it firmly on his sharply defined abs.
“Ah!”
It felt as though my palm was swimming over Levanfel’s body like gliding through a valley, clearly sensing the movement of his muscles.
I couldn’t help but let out a surprised gasp.
“What about here?”
“I-I-I don’t think it’s working here either…”
Someone must’ve set my face on fire—otherwise, there’d be no way to explain why it felt this scorching hot.
“Really?”
Levanfel gripped my wrist again.
“Then…”
My palm slid downward.

“…Damn it!”
The royal family, having returned to the Lupeon Kingdom, cursed aloud. They’d fled back like cowards, unable to stand tiptoeing around Teriella anymore in the Empire.
Yet, now that they’d run away like this, it only made Teriella’s status as Empress of the Grand Empire feel even more real.
The hollow disappointment of realizing the worm they’d spent a lifetime trampling underfoot was actually a dragon was beyond words.
“Since things have come to this, Father, let’s just attack the Leonharta Grand Empire! Their empire prospered only because the World Tree happened to be located in their land—the greatest benefit went to them! If the World Tree had taken root in our kingdom, we’d be the Grand Empire now! Look at us now. We don’t even have the World Tree anymore!”
“You’re suggesting we break the Continental Peace Accord and start a war?”
“I overheard that several kingdoms are already making moves.”
“You overheard?”
The king eyed Prince Lucenia suspiciously. The reckless prince exclaimed excitedly.
“Yes! I wasn’t just lounging around there doing nothing! I was eavesdropping diligently! Let’s attack the Leonharta Grand Empire and cleanly cut off that Teriella’s head!”
Following behind the king, Prince Lucenia’s eyes blazed with fire.
Unlike in the Leonharta Grand Empire, here in the Lupeon Kingdom, they could freely speak of Teriella’s death without fear.
…Or so they’d thought.
“Who exactly are you planning to kill?”
If not for that low, ominous voice echoing from the supposedly empty throne, that would’ve remained true.
It was a voice that should never have been heard in this place.
The king, startled, abruptly halted his step toward the throne. His sons, who had clearly heard the voice as well, all froze in stunned silence.
“…I seem to have heard something strange.”
“K-K-Karayan.”
Paler than when he’d first seen Teriella in the Leonharta Grand Empire, the king called out his son’s name.
Karayan, the crown prince who had been nodding off on the throne, now glowed with eyes as red as blood.
“…I distinctly warned you before I left.”
A guttural growl rumbled through the hall, like a beast losing its senses and roaring just before an attack.
“Don’t you dare lay a finger on Teriella—on my little sister. …Is that really so difficult?”
“B-Brother Karayan! I—I mean, Teriella chose this herself…! Kyaaak!”
Trending
“Shut that mouth of yours.”
The princess, attempting to justify herself to Karayan, trembled violently at the palpable presence of a spirit beside her, covering her head with both hands.
By now, a water spirit in the form of a wolf had surrounded the family. Resonating with its summoner’s emotions, the spirit bared its fangs at them.
“You’d better answer me straight if you don’t want to die.”
“Brother, have you gone mad?!”
“You didn’t already know I was insane?”
“W-We’re your family too!”
“Who?”
Karayan stopped his restless foot-tapping. His upturned eyes held a grotesque gleam.
“I only have one family member—my little sister.”
“…”
“So answer me clearly.”
Karayan’s crimson eyes flashed wildly, like a madman who’d completely snapped.
“Where is she? Where’s my sister?”

Poke poke.
“Mmmgh…”
Poke poke poke.
I woke up to something poking my cheek, but I was too tired to open my eyes.
Poke poke.
Even though I kept my eyes shut, the poking fingers showed no sign of stopping. It had gone from cute to downright persistent.
‘…Ugh.’
Annoyed, I swung my hand widely. But I hit nothing, and the poking on my cheek continued unabated.
Poke poke poke.
“Ugh, stop it…!”
I erupted in a shout and bolted upright. But what I saw immediately upon sitting up was Levanfel sound asleep beside me.
‘…Huh?’
Why is he sleeping here?
My confusion didn’t last long.
‘Ah. Yesterday…’
Yesterday we’d held our wedding, and since we were supposed to spend our wedding night together in the same room, we’d stayed here.
As memories of yesterday flooded back, my cheeks flushed hot right from the morning.
‘Yesterday was dangerous.’
I stared quietly at my palm.
‘With this hand yesterday…’
I vividly recalled the countless movements of muscles I’d felt beneath my palm. I’d learned for the first time just how many muscles a human body possessed—and discovered muscles in places I never knew existed…
‘No! Why am I memorizing this?! Forget it! I must forget!’
Yet, even as I thought this, I tightly clenched my palm, trying to preserve that sensation from fading away.
…Huh? Now that I thought about it, I remembered the mood growing intense last night, but everything after that was a complete blank.
The moment Levanfel grabbed my hand as it caressed his abs and started pulling it further down, I’d panicked and pressed my other hand against his chest, pouring holy power into him.
Even after my mind cleared from its daze, my hand kept sliding down his abs without stopping.
And then…
‘What happened after that?’
That was my last memory. Everything after that was pitch black.
‘How did I fall asleep?’
It wasn’t as if I’d suddenly fainted and collapsed into sleep.
It felt as if someone had deliberately put me to sleep—my memory had been cleanly severed.
‘This is strange…’
Now that I looked again, Levanfel was still fast asleep. At first, I thought he might be pretending, but seeing that not even a wrinkle on his face changed despite all the commotion I was making beside him confirmed he was truly asleep.
Then…

‘Who poked my cheek?’
There’s no one here except Levanfel and me.
Instantly, goosebumps prickled all over my body as I remembered picking up the hamster “Mew” in the palace corridor not long ago.
‘Actually, maybe it wasn’t someone poking my cheek… Maybe something crawled over my cheek… like an insect…’
No! Absolutely not! I hate that idea! As soon as this thought crossed my mind, every hair on my body stood on end.
I swept my arms down, considering another possibility.
‘No! Someone must’ve been poking my cheek!’
But that’s scary too! It means someone secretly came in and poked my cheek! Are they hiding somewhere here?!
‘No! It’s neither an insect nor a person… It’s some ghostly thing…’
No! That’s the scariest of all! A ghost—not human, not insect! I can’t stand that either!
I jerked my head around, scanning the room rapidly. Then, from a corner of the bedsheet, something small wriggled.
‘What’s that?’
It wasn’t Levanfel’s hand or foot.
I stared fixedly at the squirming bedsheet.
Poof!
Then, from the edge of the sheet, a cute little ear popped out. It was a familiar ear.
“…Mew?”
“Chik!”
Peeking out from the edge of the sheet was my hamster, Mew. I held out my palm toward Mew with a dumbfounded expression.
“Mew. How did you get here?”
This is the Empress’s private quarters—Mew’s little house should be in the main palace bedroom, right?
Mew, seemingly displeased with my question, placed a tiny hand on its hip and chirped indignantly for a while.
…Wait a second.
“Placed a hand on its hip?”
A hamster putting its hand on its hip? …Is this even really a hamster?
I blinked in disbelief.
“Chik chik!”
“Mew. Are you… maybe not actually a hamster?”
I had no idea why Mew was here, but seeing it stand so confidently, I couldn’t help but smile and gently stroke its head with my finger.
At that exact moment—
“Chik! So you finally saw it clearly. I suppose you can sense the same energy, then.”
“Waaaahh!!”
Mew suddenly started speaking human language.
What?! What is this?! What’s going on?!
Everyone jokes to their pets, “Are you secretly a human or something?”
I’d just been joking—but my pet actually answered me!
As I tumbled backward in utter shock, the hamster Mew casually brushed its short arms.
“What are you so startled about? Didn’t you already suspect and ask me? If you knew, you should’ve told me earlier! My cheeks were killing me from all those sunflower seeds you kept shoving in—they don’t even taste right!”
What is this? Seriously, since when do hamsters talk? And since when could a hamster stretch its neck like that?
It was an utterly bizarre scene.
Could I be dreaming? Pinching my cheek in this absurd situation.
“…Ow. My cheek hurts.”
“Hah. Earlier, when I slapped your cheek, you didn’t even flinch—but now you’re doing that? Anyway, I have much to tell you!”
“Huh…”
“First, I put you to sleep last night because things seemed to be moving too fast. Though I broke my promise not to interfere, I felt I had to keep my other promise—to protect you from that scoundrel.”
“What?”
“From now on, I’ll watch over you with my eyes wide open. Until… wait. Even if dirt gets in my eyes, it won’t hurt me, so that human saying holds no meaning for me.”
“Wait, hold on.”
“Alright then. Let’s say until I can no longer see. Until I can no longer see, I absolutely won’t allow it.”
“Promise? What promise? No—how can a hamster even talk?”

“Yes. And about that.”
Mew puffed up its cheeks, looking even more serious than before.
“Stop stuffing those bland sunflower seeds down my throat! If I don’t eat, there’s a reason—use your head! Cooing and coaxing me won’t work! And I like soft beds too! Not useless torn paper!”
“Who are you? No… what exactly are you?”
Asking “Who are you?” would probably just get me “a hamster” as an answer, so I rephrased my question.
Mew gave me a look as if to say, “Why ask such a question between us?”
“I am your father.”
…What? My dad is a hamster?
My eyes wobbled in shock. Mew didn’t even glance at my flustered state, scratching its unreachable head with a stubby arm and muttering.
“But it does feel awkward. You weren’t chosen by me, so calling myself your parent feels odd. Elihu was chosen by me, so I can rightfully call him my son…”
“…Archbishop Elihu?”
Out of a hamster’s mouth came the statement that the revered Archbishop Elihu was its son.
“Yes. But since you possess my power, if ‘father’ doesn’t suit me, I’ll settle for ‘older brother.’”
At this point, it was clear this hamster wasn’t just an ordinary hamster. Truthfully, it stopped being just a hamster the moment it started talking.
“…Who are you?”
At my question, Mew turned its head again. Its eyes, filled with depth, brimmed with life.
With its short, plump body gleaming, Mew declared:
“I am the source of your power, the reason all living beings in this land breathe, the parent of life, and the cause of destruction.”
Seeing my utterly bewildered expression, Mew smiled solemnly.
“Semula. That’s what you all call me.”
Though it was surely meant to be a solemn smile, to me, it was still just a tiny hamster.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
