I held Levanfel tightly until his breathing grew steady and calm.

In truth, I hoped he would bury his head in my shoulder and avoid looking at the scene around him.

‘Why…’

I bit my lower lip hard and lowered my gaze. Beneath us lay leaves that, reacting to his rage, had withered, lost their green hue, and fallen limply to the ground.

When I turned toward Levanfel, even without touching him, I felt as though he were churning inside me—so violently that it seemed he was draining my very strength.

And when I arrived, I saw with my own eyes how desolation surrounded Levanfel. There was no need for deep thought. I immediately ran to him, pulled him into my embrace, and kept murmuring that everything would be alright.

It had only been moments since the sound of the detached wing collapsing, so Jaerim judged they couldn’t have fled far.
