It was a dark night.
A week before the wedding night.
After receiving treatment, Levanfell headed towards the Damask Palace, having left the bedroom.
Jaerim, who had been notified earlier, was waiting with the Emperor’s direct knights in front of Damask Palace.
“Your Majesty.”
“The Lupeone royal family?”
“They are waiting inside.”
Levanfell nodded vaguely and entered Damask Palace.
Built around the World Tree, the palace had once been the most vital and famously beautiful place.
He was displeased that those who tormented Teriella were staying in such a renowned, beautiful palace.

‘How dare they…’
As Levanfell stepped in, the Lupeone royal family, who had been sitting, jumped to their feet.
“Emperor, Your Majesty, we greet you…”
“I won’t hear long talks. Who should take responsibility?”
As Levanfell took his seat, a knight beside him extended his sword. Levanfell drew it as if it were only natural and slashed the air.
“I clearly warned you at the beginning.”
“Your Majesty.”
“You ignored my warning. So, one of you must bear responsibility. You didn’t think that what happens here wouldn’t reach my ears, did you?”
Prince Lupeone bit his lip and bowed his head.
It was just a marriage to fill a vacancy. He could not understand why the Emperor cared so much.

“I’ve heard that cutting many throats before marriage leads to an unhappy newlywed life. So, I’ll generously give you a choice.”
Levanfell, seemingly not wanting to waste time in such a place, waved his hand with an annoyed expression.
“Choose one victim yourselves.”
King Lupeone looked up at Levanfell with a confused expression.
He had always been an Emperor who mixed serious words with jokes.
Was this possibly a joke too?
Even if he were a tyrant of the great empire, he spoke of killing royalty as if sentencing criminals.
King Lupeone’s eyes moved quickly.
Emperor Levanfell. The Emperor’s assistant. The Emperor’s exclusive knights behind the assistant.
Everyone was looking sternly at the Lupeone royal family.

‘He’s serious.’
King Lupeone swallowed hard. It was not the Emperor’s simple outburst without thinking.
The Emperor was acting, considering that this matter could turn into a national problem.
All for Teriella.
The warning he gave when he first set foot on imperial land had all been genuine. Treat Teriella like an emperor in places he was not present.
Behind the Emperor’s exclusive knights, the maids of Damask Palace stood expressionless. Their usual kindness towards the Lupeone royal family was nowhere to be found.
The King felt a chill down his spine.
The Emperor’s eyes and ears were everywhere in the empire. They just thought he was a tyrant and had withdrawn from politics.
The King bit his dry lips tightly.
“Emperor, Your Majesty.”

What was Teriella to him? What did she mean that he went so far?
“Your Majesty’s will is understood, so please quell your anger.”
“What’s the use of knowing now? It’s too late.”
Levanfell didn’t listen to the King’s excuse.
“Make up your mind quickly. It’s laughable to think that you can return safely after treating the future empress of the great empire like this.”
“Cutting the bloodline of the royal family now means war, Your Majesty.”
The King added all sorts of excuses, trying to calm the Emperor.
“If that happens, it will break the peace agreement, turning all the nations of the continent into enemies…”
“I know. I’ve already thought that far, haven’t I?”
“…”

“Sending back those who belittled the empress of the great empire, unscathed, doesn’t suit my dignity either.”
Levanfell crossed his legs arrogantly and looked at Jaerim beside him.
“Don’t you think so, Jaerim?”
“Under normal circumstances, I would advise Your Majesty to endure, as war at this time is dangerous, but this time, Your Majesty is right.”
Jaerim scanned the stillconfused princes and princesses with a cold expression.
“It’s about the future empress of the great empire. Leaving those who despised her, knowing who they were, would be a disgrace to the great empire.”
“Isn’t that right?”
“I will assist you in what follows, Your Majesty. Show them the majesty and prestige of the great empire, who dared to belittle it.”
With even Jaerim saying so, the princes and princesses realized the gravity of the situation and turned pale.
“Your Majesty, spare us!”

“Your Majesty!”
The prince and princess of Lupeon knelt down. They had already knelt once before Teriella, so doing it twice wouldn’t be difficult.
But the King of Lupeon still stood stiffly.
Levanfell did not like it. He was even more irritated thinking that the king had probably always treated Teriella with such an attitude.
Though Teriella had said she would handle it directly, he couldn’t hold back. He couldn’t sleep at night without returning the humiliation and contempt she had received so far.
He wanted to sever the king’s head on the spot and hang it on the castle gate, but he had to endure it, thinking that Teriella would dislike it.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
