“……Teriel.”

“So that the pain you have suffered never spreads again in this empire.”

“…….”

“So that children who suffer like you will not grow up.”

“…….”

“You protect this empire.”

Because you are the Emperor of the Leonharta Empire, the father of all imperial citizens, and a steadfast savior.

“With the power you possess.”

“With my power.”

“Save the innocent people who will dream good dreams, believing in you.”

“Protect.”

“Block the spreading evil.”

“……I will kill all those who dare to look down on what’s mine.”

It seemed to be a bit different in meaning, but Levanfell’s eyes, which had been hollow, were filled with light, so it seemed he had come to his senses.

“……Teriella.”

Levanfell overlapped his hand on the back of my hand that was stroking his cheek.

“Stay by my side.”

“…….”

“Make me love and protect this world.”

Ashes were fluttering in the sky, and fierce determination was reflected in Levanfell’s eyes, looking up.

“You must always be by my side. Teriella.”

I nodded, fitting my hand into his overlapping one.

“Don’t worry. I have nowhere to go anyway.”

“When we return to the palace…….”

Levanfell walked forward, fitting his hand into mine.

“When we return to the palace, I have something to tell you, Teriella.”

Blue light blends in with various colors. Soon, layers of pink petals filled the surroundings.

“I’ve been waiting. Levanfell.”

.

.

.

“No additional survivors have been found.”

The sun had set, and the moon had risen. The recovery and search that took several hours ended after the moon had risen.

There were no additional survivors.

More than several hundred bodies of rescued children were found, most of them in such a state that it was hard to recover them, having been there for too long.

“……Keep them intact and prepare for the funeral.”

“……Your Majesty.”

“This is the way home for the children. Prepare it without any deficiencies.”

Jaerim nodded silently, accepting Levanfell’s command. Levanfell, who had been watching the children for a while, turned away.

I too quietly looked at the faces of the children stained with pain.

‘If there is a next life.’

May you not suffer. May the innocent days not be painful. May you not be wounded by someone’s merciless selfishness.

I briefly prayed and turned after Levanfell.

It was almost midnight. The time Levanfell changes.

He couldn’t show that form in front of everyone. Especially not now.

“Levanfell.”

“I know.”

At my urging, Levanfell nodded and headed towards the carriage. The rugged road was too difficult to descend alone. We held each other’s hands and slowly came down.

The carriage was not far away, so we decided to spend the night in it.

As soon as we entered the carriage, Levanfell’s hair began to change color. If we had been a little later, it could have been a dangerous situation where everyone would have noticed.

I quickly placed my hand on Levanfell’s chest and channeled my sacred power. Lately, I’ve noticed that it’s taking longer than when I first treated his chest.

‘Is it because his body is getting used to it?’
I cocked my head and reached out with my other hand to stroke Levanfell’s white hair. I didn’t want to see him with white hair, perhaps because of the situation I had just seen from above.

“……Such a day as today is difficult to resist. And the place is not suitable.”

Levanfell playfully laughed, holding my hand that was stroking his hair. I knew well that it was an effort to change the heavy and tired atmosphere.

“You don’t even fall for my temptation. Indeed, an emperor with excellent selfcontrol.”

I went along with the situation casually. Levanfell stared at me intently as I awkwardly nestled in his arms.

“Am I causing you trouble?”

His thick thumb carelessly brushed against my eye.

“Your eyes look dark.”

“……At first, when I took a ship, I thought that if need be, I might escape on a rescue ship alone.”

“You thought that?”

“I did, but somehow I keep sailing on the same ship.”

I tilted my head and sighed heavily, as if to show him. Then Levanfell answered with a sly smile, as if finding me adorable.

“There’s no way around it. Even if you suffer because of me, I won’t let you go.”

“…….”

“Just suffer with me by my side.”

I pouted my lips in displeasure. But it was distinctly different from when we first met.

I anticipated that he would say that. I expected it, and yet my lips twitched when the words I thought came out.

I know everything, so I can act spoilt. I feel like Levanfell would say no if I asked him to let me go because it’s tough.

And it was only after a long flow of divine power that Levanfell’s hair color returned to normal.

As soon as he returned to his original form, Levanfell gently brushed my forehead and stood up.

“Take some rest.”

“What about Levanfell?”

“I heard in the report earlier that the surviving children haven’t fallen asleep yet. ……Perhaps they’re anxious. Or it could be guilt for being the only one to survive.”

A shadow crossed Levanfell’s face.

Guilt for being the only one to survive. Whose story is that now?

“I think it will be better if I talk to them face to face.”

“Then let’s go together.”

“The empress should rest. You look tired.”

“The children are probably more tired.”

I stood up beside Levanfell.

“If I can make the children’s night pass a little sooner, I will go with you.”

“……Alright.”

Levanfell and I headed for the carriage, and we directed ourselves towards the carriage where the children were staying.

There were no private houses nearby, so we emptied one of the luggage carriages we had brought, allowing the children to stay there.

“……Where did this come from!!”

But as we approached the carriage where the children were, a familiar shout rang out. From a distance, the children looked terrified, and the knights didn’t know what to do.

“……Clint?”

And Clint was shouting, holding one child by the shoulder.

“Clint! Let go of that hand right now!”

Startled, I ran up and pulled Clint and the child apart.

“What are you doing! Sir Tenen!!”

I hid the child behind me and yelled at Clint, facing him. But as soon as I saw Clint’s face, I froze.

Levanfell, who had followed me, grabbed Clint’s shoulder and turned him sharply.

“Sir Tenen, what are you doing…… Sir Tenen?”

“Heh…… Heh…… Heh heh heh.”

Clint was crying. He was wailing even more severely than when I saw him at the mansion.

Only then did I understand why the knights around him were standing without even trying to stop him.

He was standing precariously, unable to maintain his sanity, as if he would collapse if touched.

“What the hell……”

“Tha, that, that child…… Tha, that child’s necklace. Heh, heh……. ”

A strange sound, either crying or laughing, floated through the desolate forest carried by the wind. We all looked at the child’s neck where Clint’s hand was pointing.

A pendant studded with expensive jewels for a commoner child shone around the neck, as if begging to be seen.

“It, it’s, it’s the one I made for my daughter……. ”

“……!”

Startled, I opened my eyes wide. The child who heard Clint’s words tightly grasped the necklace around her neck. Then she opened her mouth with a trembling voice.
“This, this is…… a fairy tale passed down among us.”

“……A fairy tale?”

“There was a sister who was once drawn to this place…… She told her friend that if she wore this necklace, our father would surely come to save her. Our father would surely save her. So, she said that she must never take it off.”

“…….”

“So, the children going to die all give this necklace to the next child…… If you wear this necklace, someday……”

Clint fell to his knees just like that.

“Someday, someone will believe in our salvation.”

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
