Staring at the white ceiling, Chae Rin let out a quiet sigh. She was lying on the bed in a hotel room she’d never been in before.

“What a chaotic day.”

First, a stranger showed up at her house. Then, because of that, she ended up coming to a hotel. But coming here seemed like the right choice—she would’ve spent the whole night anxious if she’d stayed at home.

Jin Ho suggested going to a hotel and stayed by her side the entire time she packed. He gently reassured her when her hands trembled uncontrollably, and once she finished packing, he picked up her bag and walked with her all the way to the hotel.

Saying he knew someone at a nearby hotel, he booked a room for her and before leaving said, “Call me if anything happens. You can even call if nothing’s wrong.”

Not once did he show a hint of displeasure. Not once did he reveal any ulterior motive—only a face filled with constant concern.

He acted purely out of kindness toward someone trembling in fear.

He really was a good person.

Chae Rin realized she’d never met a man who was good from start to finish like this. Neither her ex-boyfriend nor her own father had ever shown such gentleness. She’d never even imagined she could rely on someone like this.

Tick, tock, tick, tock—the only sound in the quiet room was the second hand of a clock moving steadily.

Jin Ho’s words echoed in her mind. Chae Rin picked up her phone and found his name in her recent contacts.

Without thinking, she tapped his name.

Before the ringtone even sounded twice, a soft male voice came through the phone.
