Unaware of the commotion unfolding inside, Chae Rin stepped out of the hospital building and stood nervously behind Jin Ho.

Jin Ho, busy loading the prairie dog he’d brought today into the back seat, closed the car door without noticing anyone behind him. His broad shoulders came into view. Just before he turned to head to the driver’s seat, Chae Rin gathered her courage and spoke.

“Hello.”

She called out softly to Jin Ho, who was still facing forward.

The last time they’d met was at a café in Gangnam. It had been well over a week since she’d seen him. Jin Ho had messaged her occasionally during that time, but Chae Rin, unsure how to respond, had only read the messages without replying.

At the sound of Chae Rin’s voice, Jin Ho’s shoulders flinched slightly.

“Oh—Ms. Chae Rin.”

The man turned around and spotted her. A bright smile immediately lit up his face. Chae Rin simply stood there, gazing at him quietly.

His masculine, solid frame, tidy features, and dark eyes all radiated pure joy at seeing her.

“I came all the way to Dolmae and thought I wouldn’t get to see you. You seemed busy. But here we are.”

She’d ignored his messages for over a week, yet there wasn’t a trace of anger or resentment on Jin Ho’s face—no hint of “Why didn’t you reply?” Instead, he looked genuinely happy.

A gust of wind blew, tousling his hair. Through the strands, she saw his eyes fixed intently on her.

“Yeah, I guess so.”

She’d been lucky to catch him before he left. She almost said it aloud, but unsure why she’d even run outside to call him, Chae Rin just bit her lip.
