“What does that… mean?”

Seul Hee was speechless, and Eun Woo twisted the corner of his mouth.

“You don’t have to look so troubled. Do you dislike me that much?”

Ouch.

Seul Hee lost her words again.

It wasn’t so much dislike as it was… complicated.

At work, Eun Woo was an endlessly intimidating and exacting man. She’d been so tense around him, afraid of making any mistake, that her shoulders would ache by the time she got home.

He was definitely not someone easy to be around.

Seul Hee remained silent, only her lips twitching slightly. Interpreting this silent response, Eun Woo exhaled briefly and continued.

“Don’t worry. I won’t beg or pressure you to go out with me.”

“I wasn’t worried about that.”

A man who could deliver a confession like that so calmly didn’t seem the type to beg or pressure anyone. Instead, she found herself wondering why he’d even say such a thing.

He didn’t seem like someone who’d passionately fall for anyone—

And even more absurdly, that someone was supposed to be her?

“As I mentioned before, there’s a bit of a situation. A misunderstanding occurred.”

“A misunderstanding?”

“My grandmother adores me—I’m her youngest grandson—and she’s been worried, saying it’s about time I got married. And now she’s fallen ill.”

His ailing grandmother had visited Eun Woo’s house and saw a photo from the animal hospital tucked inside one of his books.

“By chance, there happened to be a solo picture of you, Seul Hee, between the pages of a book.”

Those photos had been taken for the hospital’s promotional brochure and, as a keepsake, copies were given to all staff. Somehow, one of them ended up in his book.

To make a long story short, upon seeing that photo, his grandmother mistook you for his girlfriend—and he didn’t deny it.

“I’m sorry. She’d finally found some cheer, and I didn’t want to spoil her happiness, so I just went along with it.”

Though Eun Woo apologized, Seul Hee couldn’t bring herself to be angry—not when his grandmother was unwell. In fact, it was surprising to discover this unexpectedly tender side hidden behind Eun Woo’s usually cold demeanor.

Looking uneasy, Eun Woo frowned.

“But now, my grandmother wants to meet you.”

“Me?”

So that was why he’d taken her to that expensive restaurant and treated her to dinner. Now it finally made sense.

Rather than anger, understanding his situation actually eased Seul Hee’s tension considerably.

“So that’s how it is…”

Mr. Ok didn’t actually like her. His grandmother had simply mistaken her for his girlfriend and now wanted to see her.

She felt both relief and something else she couldn’t quite name.

“Yes, so… would you be willing to come meet her once?”

“What if you just told her it was a misunderstanding?”

“If I say it was a misunderstanding, my sick grandmother might be even more shocked.”

Eun Woo cut off Seul Hee’s faltering words sharply.

He was right. If someone already unwell learned that the long-awaited marriage of her beloved grandson was based on a lie, it could be deeply upsetting.

Though she didn’t know exactly how serious her condition was, she understood his concern. It would be hard to flatly refuse when his grandmother was ill.

But Seul Hee absolutely couldn’t accept his proposal.

“I’m really sorry, but I have a boyfriend.”

At her words, Eun Woo’s eyes narrowed sharply.

“Is that true?”

“Yes.”

“I’ve never heard that before.”

Well, they weren’t close enough for him to know such personal details about her anyway.

Until today, Seul Hee had known nothing about Eun Woo’s private life—and this was the first time they’d ever spent time alone together. So naturally, she’d never mentioned it.

“I do. A boyfriend.”

Though they hadn’t properly seen each other in a while, Seul Hee did have a boyfriend.

Her relationship with Chan Jeong had started back in college and continued into their professional lives—a workplace romance.

Back then, they’d meet every day for meals and dates, but now things were very different.

Before joining the animal hospital, Seul Hee had quit her previous job due to malicious harassment from her team leader. Now that they worked at separate companies—his growing increasingly busy—they barely saw each other once a month.

Chapter 115 Chapter 114

Glancing down,

she looked at her silent phone.

She’d texted him again this morning, but as usual, no reply came from her boyfriend, Chan Jeong.

Sometimes, she even doubted whether she even had a boyfriend anymore.

“We don’t meet often, though.”

“I see.”

Eun Woo tilted his head, his elegant neck muscles standing out. Since she’d just rejected his confession, Seul Hee spoke up.

“I’m sorry.”

“There’s nothing to apologize for. It wouldn’t make sense to ask someone with a boyfriend to date me.”

An awkward silence settled over them as the restaurant staff served dessert—adorably arranged, delicate-looking dishes. Eun Woo pointed toward the dessert placed before him.

“That’s all I needed to say. Now that I understand your situation, let’s eat.”

Right. Let’s eat. Food isn’t to blame. Leaving such steaming, delicious food untouched would be a crime.

Unlike Seul Hee, who began eating, Eun Woo simply stared at her. As she cut into what looked like a freshly baked chocolate fondant, rich brown sauce oozed out slowly. The sweet aroma made Seul Hee’s eyes soften and the corners of her mouth lift into a smile.

“Delicious.”

At her spontaneous exclamation, a flicker of light sparkled in Eun Woo’s eyes.

Noticing his gaze, Seul Hee abruptly lifted her head.

Would he think it silly of her to be so taken by food in this situation?

But instead of scolding her, Eun Woo cut a piece of his own dessert and placed it onto her plate.

“Eat more.”

“It’s fine! Really, it’s okay.”

“I know that portion isn’t enough for how much you usually eat, Seul Hee.”

His comment made her cheeks burn hot.

Seul Hee had a small, petite frame,

yet she loved eating.

No—she adored it.

She often brought a lunchbox far too large for one person and ate it all quietly, so much so that Eun Woo once remarked, “You chew with your cheeks full like a hamster.”

Even so, she wouldn’t let her appetite get the better of her in such an unusual situation.

“Really, I’m fine.”

At her words, Eun Woo lifted one corner of his mouth and smiled.

“I think I’m too nervous to digest anything anyway.”

Today had been full of surprises.

Mr. Ok—nervous?

Though only in his early thirties, Eun Woo was an exceptionally talented veterinarian. Even during complex surgeries, he remained calm and composed.

Many considered him the best surgeon in the region—his hands never trembled, even in emergencies.

And now this Mr. Ok was saying he was nervous? It almost felt like the world was ending.

Seeing Seul Hee’s wide-eyed expression, Eun Woo tapped lightly on his plate.

“That’s why you, at least, should eat plenty.”

In the end, Seul Hee ate every last bite—hers and the portion he’d given her.

***

After his sudden confession, conversation between them dwindled to almost nothing.

“This place is really delicious.”

“I’m glad you like it.”

Eun Woo gave only brief responses to Seul Hee’s comments. Ever since she’d mentioned her boyfriend and rejected his proposal, his expression had remained stiff and unreadable.

As they left the restaurant, Seul Hee bowed her head.

“Thank you for the wonderful meal.”

“Don’t mention it. I was the one who suggested eating out.”

Though the evening had been painfully awkward, the food truly was delicious—famous enough to be featured in the media for good reason.

“Um, Mr. Ok… I’m sorry I can’t help, but I hope things work out for you.”

“About that matter—”

Just as Eun Woo began to speak, a woman walked into the restaurant path.

Click-clack.

High heels, a sleek black suit hugging her figure, flawless makeup highlighted by crimson lipstick, and sharp eyes.

Her tightly pinned-up hair looked familiar.

“Ah!”

Seul Hee instinctively covered her mouth to stifle the gasp.

That woman…

A recent memory surfaced. Before joining the animal hospital, Seul Hee had left her previous company—no, she’d been pushed out.

It had all started with the malicious harassment from her team leader.

“Yoo Seul Hee, did you write this report half-asleep? What even is this? It’s a complete mess.”

“Seul Hee, is this some kind of joke? How can you produce designs like this?”

“Ugh, pathetic. Do your parents know you’re going around like this?”

Just recalling her team leader’s sharp voice made Seul Hee’s heart race. The woman had tormented her relentlessly.

She’d tossed perfectly fine reports right in front of Seul Hee and publicly humiliated her whenever she voiced opinions in meetings.

“Does Team Leader Lee owe Seul Hee money or something? Why’s she acting like that?”

With no real fault on Seul Hee’s part, her colleagues couldn’t understand why the team leader kept picking on her.

At first, teammates viewed the team leader as strange—but soon, whispers began: “She’s an accomplished woman, made team leader in her early thirties. There must be a reason she dislikes Seul Hee…”

Eventually, weighed down by stress and the judgmental gazes around her, Seul Hee quit.

And now, walking toward them, was none other than that very team leader—Lee Do Young.

“What’s she doing here?”

Seeing Seul Hee’s half-open mouth, Eun Woo leaned down and asked,

“What’s wrong?”

“Oh—nothing.”

But unconsciously, her feet wobbled. It was their first encounter since her resignation. Memories of months of torment flooded back, overwhelming her instantly.

“You don’t look like it’s ‘nothing.’”

Eun Woo stepped closer and caught Seul Hee’s arm as she swayed. His firm grip steadied her trembling, fragile frame.

“Yoo Seul Hee.”

“I’m fine.”

She answered in a voice shaking uncontrollably.

It was just a former boss. She’d already quit, and had no intention of staying in the same industry.

What did it matter if they ran into each other outside work?

Yet the physical tremors from deep-seated stress wouldn’t stop.

“I’m sorry—I just saw someone I know.”

“Someone you know?”

“More like… my former boss.”

“Then go ahead and greet her. Don’t worry about me.”

Seul Hee shook her head.

“It’s fine. No need to say hello.”

Just as she hurried to leave,

a black car pulled up in front of the restaurant, and a man stepped out.

He wrapped his arms around Do Young’s waist and nestled his face against her shoulder.

Her boyfriend, perhaps?

His face was unclear in the dim light.

So even a witch like her had a boyfriend.

Briefly overtaken by unpleasantness, Seul Hee quickly shook her head.

Who cared? Whether she had a boyfriend or not was none of her business.

“Let’s go, sir.”

As Seul Hee turned toward Eun Woo, the man’s face—previously hidden in shadow—came into view.

An utterly ordinary man.

Yet one Seul Hee knew all too well.

Her boyfriend since her third year of university.

Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife

I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro

When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.

After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.

Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.

Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.

At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.

Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.

The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.

He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.

[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]
