“Let’s go, quickly.”
And with Eun-woo, Seol-hee came home. Then, perhaps it was a natural procedure. As soon as they entered the room, after feeding Ggom-ggom, Eun-woo pushed Seol-hee without a moment to breathe. Gently, and intensely. He explored her lips, pulled Seol-hee with his fingers.
“Your breath is, cold.”
After meeting Lee Hyeon, Seol-hee couldn’t eat anything. Due to excessive tension, not a single grain of rice went in. In response to Seol-hee’s words, Eun-woo cooked and fed her, and then. He continued what he was doing. Then, Seol-hee fell asleep, drowsy.
As a result, it’s now late at night.
As if accustomed to it, Eun-woo got up, took Ggom-ggom’s water bowl, and filled it with water from the water purifier. Bending his body, he provided water. The moonlight revealed the muscles on his rugged back.
Splash.
In the dim light, watching the muscles wriggle felt like seeing something that shouldn’t be seen. Somehow masculine, peculiar, and…
After giving water to Ggom-ggom, Eun-woo, who spoke to Ggom-ggom in a small voice a few times, stood up when Ggom-ggom seemed satisfied. Then, he swept his hair aside, stared at her.
Feeling like she had intruded, Seol-hee tightly held the blanket with both hands and lay still. The footsteps of the man who walked towards the bed stopped in front of the bed.
“Hmm.”
He made a low sound and leaned his body.
“Seol-hee.”
“…”
For some reason, she closed her eyes tightly, pretending not to hear.
“How long are you going to pretend to sleep?”
“…”
“Even since a while ago.”
At his words, Seol-hee’s eyelashes trembled. After a while, she slowly opened her eyes. In her eyes, already accustomed to the darkness, Ok Eun-woo appeared.
“How did you know?”
“Seol-hee.”
He reached out and wiped Seol-hee’s nose.
“Breathing sounds different when you’re asleep.”
“…Oops.”
“It’s noticeable.”
In fact, several times she had pretended to be asleep.
In the morning, she used to watch Eun-woo sleeping. When it seemed like he might wake up, as if she had been sleeping, she hurriedly turned her body and closed her eyes.
Looks like it’s all been exposed.
“I’m sorry… sir.”
“Why pretend to sleep?”
“Because it’s embarrassing.”
For some reason.
Seol-hee covered her face with her palms. How do I say I peeked at you secretly? Then, as if he didn’t know she was embarrassed, Eun-woo, with a shadow over her, climbed onto the mattress and lowered Seol-hee’s hand covering her face. He lowered her hand covering her face. Between the loosened fingers, the face of the man with a slightly amused smile was visible.
“What’s so embarrassing?”
“Seeing you, sir.”
When Seol-hee said that, Eun-woo narrowed his eyes. After staring at Seol-hee’s face for a while, he smiled lightly.
“Come to think of it. Can you stop calling me ‘sir’ now?”
“Oh.”
“It feels worse being called ‘sir’ when we’re real lovers than when we were pretending. Back then, at least, you didn’t call me ‘sir’.”
Sure, when I introduced Eun-woo to my friends, I called him “oppa.” Oppa, a word that warms me just thinking about it. A word so embarrassing that even thinking about it makes my face blush.
It seems I can’t call him by that name.
“Well, what should I call you? I don’t have a name to call.”
“Then, will you continue to call me ‘teacher’ like this?”
“…”
“Even while we continue dating, and after we get married?”
“Marriage.”
Talking about marriage seemed a bit premature, but his words were right. I can’t call him ‘teacher’ forever.
“That’s true.”
“I’ve thought about it. Why you feel embarrassed and shy only when you look at me. Everything starts with language, and I think it’s wrong for you to call me ‘teacher.'”
He nodded. His pouring hair lightly tickled Seol-hee’s forehead.
“Um… that might be true.”
When Seol-hee spoke thinly, Eun-woo lowered his head and gently touched Seol-hee’s lips. When his red lips touched mine, Seol-hee’s body trembled.
“Oops.”
He didn’t stop there. He kissed Seol-hee’s lips again. The sensation of gently touching and parting was overwhelmingly clear. Without realizing it, her toes curled, and her body shook. Seeing the wavering Seol-hee, he sighed softly.
“See.”
After giving a sweet kiss, Eun-woo twisted his eyebrows.
“Even now, you’re surprised by just a peck.”
“…”
“I guess I’m not comfortable, am I?”
Certainly, I didn’t feel completely comfortable with him. I looked up at him.
In the shallow light shining from outside, his sculpted face comes to mind. I felt tense because I thought he had an extraordinarily handsome face, but is it really because of his words?
Anyway, being together at work, even after work. It’s difficult to switch between being colleagues at work and being lovers.
“Then, what should I call you?”
“What do lovers usually call each other?”
“…Um. Usually… well, they say something like ‘darling.’ Isn’t that right?”
“Then, call me that.”
“Dar… darling?”
“Yes.”
“For the teacher?”
“Yes.”
As if something was strange, Eun-woo narrowed his eyes. It wasn’t really strange, but still, something felt awkward.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
