He listened to his brother’s endless nagging.
[Ringing] So, when are you coming back to Seoul?“Tomorrow.”
[Ringing] Let’s have lunch then.“No, I can’t.”
He had an afternoon flight. He didn’t want to spend the time he’d taken off with Seol Hee, who he had just started dating, on his often useless brother. He couldn’t leave her alone in Jeju City either.
“I’m not here for fun. It’s for a conference.”
[Ringing] Not for fun? You’re not alone, right?Startled by the voice that seemed to know too much, as if there were CCTV installed at home, Eun Woo involuntarily raised his head.
If it’s his brother, it’s entirely possible he had it figured out.
Eun Woo’s silence led his brother to chuckle.
[Ringing] “Kid, I haven’t installed any CCTV, you know.”Was that really true? Eun Woo wondered as if he were looking for a camera, confirming it. His brother, Sun Woo, added more.
[Ringing] “It was Granny with the blue roof who told me. She said you came with some girl.”Granny with the blue roof, a close friend of Eun Woo’s grandmother, often looked after him when he visited Jeju. No doubt, she must have seen Seol Hee coming and going with him.
This house in Jeju was a special place for Eun Woo.
Unlike his suffocating house in Seoul, here he had spent his free childhood.
He had wanted to bring Seol Hee here, to a place he liked.
But he hadn’t expected things to get this complicated.
“Just a colleague.”
He almost added ‘nothing more’ but stopped, considering Seol Hee might hear, or out of conscience, he just couldn’t say it.
But Sun Woo knew Eun Woo too well to let it pass.
[Ringing] “You brought just a colleague to Grandma’s house?”“…”
[Ringing] “If you’re busy, I can come to you.”“No.”
[Ringing] “No?”Eun Woo’s firm response piqued Sun Woo’s interest, evident in his amused tone.
[Ringing] “Why not? If it’s just a colleague, shouldn’t it be fine to meet for a bit?”Eun Woo clenched his teeth at the thought of Sun Woo turning up uninvited.
“Just cut it out.”
[Ringing] “…”“When you’re laughing.”
Though they were brothers with just a two-year age difference, Sun Woo always clung to Eun Woo, who found it annoying.
Sun Woo laughed again as Eun Woo’s voice sharpened.
[Ringing] “Next week, I’m going up to Seocho-dong. Let’s have a drink.”“Alright.”
[Ringing] “If possible, show me that ‘colleague’ too.”“Please, just go away.”
Eun Woo’s voice trembled slightly, prompting Sun Woo to laugh once more. Though Eun Woo had stepped away from Seol Hee to take the call, her presence now seemed absent.
The call was getting too long. There was a sound of water; maybe she was showering?
Eager to end the call, Eun Woo was about to hang up when Sun Woo persisted.
[Ringing] “Hey, did you see the news?”“What news?”
Eun Woo briefly checked his phone but nothing stood out. Maybe something about his father?
“Father?”
[Ringing] “Father’s fine. It’s about Jeju. A typhoon’s coming. It’ll start affecting the area tonight, and by tomorrow, it’ll hit directly.”“A typhoon?”
[Ringing] “Yeah. They’re saying it’s a record-breaking one. The weather might ground flights, you might get stuck in Jeju.”Eun Woo looked up at the sky, which had turned ominously dark, with a few raindrops already falling.
[Ringing] “You’ve got work on Monday. You might get trapped in Jeju.”“I get it.”
[Ringing] “Then, have fun…”Before his brother could finish, Eun Woo cut the call and turned back toward the house. As expected, Seol Hee was nowhere to be seen.
Where could she have gone? Before Eun Woo could ponder long, the bathroom door creaked open, and Seol Hee, appearing to have showered, stepped out with water droplets shaking off.
Droplets clung to her fair skin. The makeup on her face was now gone, revealing her pale complexion, with only her red lips standing out.
Caught off guard, Eun Woo gripped his phone tightly.
As Eun Woo silently gazed at her, Seol Hee tilted her head.
“Sorry. I rushed to shower because some raindrops started falling. I thought your call was getting long.”
“It’s okay.”
“No more calls?”
“It’s done.”
“Looks like it’s going to rain.”
Seol Hee walked over to the wooden floor and sat at the edge. Her delicate, long neck was exposed in front of Eun Woo, sprinkled with light brown hair.
Feeling like he saw something he shouldn’t, a rush of red flushed through Eun Woo, and he averted his eyes to the sky.
“A typhoon is coming.”
“In Jeju?”
“Yes. It will start affecting us tonight.”
“Oh no… then it might be hard to go out.”
At her words, Eun Woo twisted his lips.
Trapped by a typhoon, alone with the woman he likes in this house.
Could he handle tonight?
Eun Woo was uncertain.
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!
This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
