“…Wow.”

An involuntary exclamation escaped Seol Hee’s lips.

The beautiful woman before her casually looped her arm through Eun Woo’s, smiling playfully.

Who is she? How does she know Dr. Eun Woo?

Not that I’m jealous. Not jealous, but…

I haven’t even interlocked arms with him.

Despite having kissed Eun Woo, Seol Hee realized they had never been this physically close. The thought alone was enough to make her cheeks redden, a clear sign they hadn’t progressed that far in their relationship.

But… who is this woman clinging to Dr. Eun Woo’s arm?

Seol Hee twisted her lips without realizing it. The woman raised her eyebrows, noticing her expression.

“…And who is this?”

I was about to ask the same question.

Before Seol Hee could speak, Eun Woo removed his arm from the woman’s grasp and introduced them.

“This is Yu Seol Hee, a vet technician at our hospital. And this is Yoon Se Na, my junior from college.”

“Ah… a vet technician. But is your clinic even bringing technicians to the conference today?”

“It’s a personal participation.”

“Coming all the way to Jeju for personal participation…”

Se Na nodded at Seol Hee.

“Hello, Yoon Se Na here. Eun Woo oppa’s close junior.”

The emphasis on ‘close’ was unmistakable.

“Hello, I’m Yu Seol Hee. Dr. Eun Woo’s…”

I want to say girlfriend, so please keep your distance.

But given that Eun Woo introduced her as a technician, Seol Hee cautiously continued.

“I work as a vet technician at the same hospital.”

“You’re very dedicated, coming to the conference and all.”

“I came because there are lectures related to the new animal health technician role. Professor Seo Geon Chang is one of the speakers.”

“Oh, I see. I wasn’t aware of that. Not my field of interest.”

Eun Woo then turned towards Seol Hee, handing her a pamphlet.

“Here. This is the 2 PM lecture we need to attend.”

“Ah…”

Before Seol Hee could respond, Se Na interjected.

“Oppa. I have a presentation at 1 PM. You’re coming to see it, right?”

“You have a presentation?”

“Didn’t you check the presenter’s names? Yes, I do. It’s related to my graduation thesis and current research. You have to come. And later, give me feedback.”

“That might be difficult.”

Eun Woo firmly stated, to which Se Na’s eyes widened.

“Why?”

“I planned to tour the poster presentations beforehand. There’s something I want to show Seol Hee.”

“Can’t she go by herself?”

Just that one thing?

Se Na’s red lips curled mockingly, but Eun Woo remained calm.

“No, I want to see it with her.”

“…”

“Ah, there’s Professor Lee Geon Woo. I should say hello. See you later.”

Eun Woo then gently pulled Seol Hee’s arm.

“Let’s go, Seol Hee.”

This was Seol Hee’s first time at a conference. She had only completed her undergraduate studies, so she had never attended a professional conference in her field, nor had she sought out such events.

Dr. Eun Woo had told her not to worry too much about it.
It was indeed a nerve-wracking place. In our country, there are only 10 veterinary colleges, and the number of students graduating each year doesn’t exceed 1,000.

Consequently, many people recognized Eun Woo, either as alumni from the same university or as regular attendees at veterinary conferences. Seol Hee, by association, found herself greeting them too.

After greeting Eun Woo, these people would often turn their curious gazes towards Seol Hee.

It wasn’t malicious, but Seol Hee felt like an animal in a zoo exhibit.

“Dr. Eun Woo,” Seol Hee tugged at his sleeve, feeling uncomfortable amidst the attention.

“I’m sorry, but… maybe I shouldn’t have come here?”

“Why do you think so?”

“Well, it’s just… the atmosphere.”

“Anyone can attend a veterinary conference, not just veterinary students or veterinarians. There are also graduate students from other fields, and people from related industries.”

“It’s not about the participation. It’s just…”

Seol Hee hesitated, then whispered.

“Is it because I’m with you, Dr. Eun Woo? Others seem to find me… interesting.”

“Ahh.”

Eun Woo brushed his hair back with his hand, revealing his sharp nose and lazy lips. He frowned for a moment, then nodded as if he understood.

“That’s not your fault, but mine.”

“Your fault?”

“I’ve always been a loner, especially during my university days. Even for work-related matters, I preferred being alone.”

“Ah…”

“People are curious because it’s the first time they’ve seen me with a woman. This field is unnecessarily small, so don’t worry about it.”

“I suppose that’s a relief…”

Seol Hee nodded and then tilted her head.

With a woman for the first time? What does that mean?

Before she could ponder the implications, another person approached Dr. Eun Woo.

“There are a lot of university alumni here today.”

Eun Woo sighed, slumping into a chair in the conference hall. He seemed exhausted from greeting so many acquaintances – teaching assistants from his lab, juniors, seniors, and other veterinarians he had briefly worked with.

“Maybe I shouldn’t have come.”
