“Let’s go.”
Doha, taking Yeoeun, retraced their steps down the path they had entered.
In all her life, this was the first time she encountered such a picky villa.
There were no normal streetlights in the narrow parking lot.
The entrance door didn’t fit properly, and the living room floor was dim.
Everywhere she looked, the floor was cold, and the wind blew through the windows.
It was amusing that such a villa was in the heart of Seoul, and the woman’s situation, with no other place to go but here, was even more amusing.
Just by looking at the surface, one wouldn’t know that the toy he coveted was truly in an absurd exhibition hall.
But there was also an unexpected aspect.
The worn-out place was polished and used so much that there was not a speck of dust inside the house.
Seo Yeoeun, with eyes full of stories, smiled as brightly as in the photo.

The lined-up pottery on the shelf was impressive.
Her glasses, placed next to the pottery, were also welcoming.
He felt that way, but Yeoeun kept pushing him away.
She mumbled about the amusing reason for that.
The attempt to kiss her, which he had originally intended to leave after just having a cup of coffee, was because Seo Yeoeun seemed a bit irritated.
“Director Cha, it’s past midnight.”
Yeoeun, as if unwillingly moving her steps from the start, finally spoke as she made an effort to pull her hand away.
“How can we go to the hospital at this hour? I’ll go tomorrow.”
They were halfway down the stairs.
“I’ll take care of the hospital…”

“Hug and take me?”
Doha, who had stopped walking, turned to look at Yeoeun.
She tried to pull her hand away as if unwilling to walk from the beginning, and Yeoeun finally said.
“If you want that, I’ll do it.”
Her eye shook thinly at the voice full of irritation.
There was a hint of moisture in her large eyes, as if she would shed a whole lot of tears.
After biting her trembling lips for a moment, she bowed her head.
“No.”
Her resigned voice was also composed.
“I’ll go.”

This is what’s irritating.
Disliking it, wanting to push him away, feeling uncomfortable, yet ultimately accepting it silently.
The attitude of accepting him with reluctance after completing the calculations in her mind in that short time.
Even the kiss earlier was like that.
Pushing him away, but not refusing when their lips touched.
She probably can’t refuse.
My stubborn life depends on his fingertips.
Doha, looking at Yeoeun, who was staring at her toes with her head bowed, moved her steps again.
The place Doha brought her to was the nearby university hospital’s emergency room.
While Doha talked to someone who seemed to be a hospital staff, Manager Kim Jung-joo supported her.

It was quite awkward.
“There’s no need to support me like this. It’s not like I injured my leg.”
But perhaps resembling her superior, Manager Kim Jung-joo’s persistence was not to be taken lightly.
“You have a high fever. You might feel very dizzy.”
She did feel dizzy.
When leaving Itaewon, it wasn’t like this, but when leaving the Seocho Police Station, she had to grit her teeth.
Meeting her mom, saying goodbye to In-tae.
When she got into the taxi, she felt heat even from her breathing nostrils.
So what?
What’s the big deal?

There have been worse times.
If she had succumbed to a common cold that would get better if she took a day off and rested, she wouldn’t have come this far.
She is Seo Yeoeun, who is harsh and stubborn.
The way Manager Kim Jung-joo and the medical staff treated her, as if she were seriously ill, was a bit awkward.
Pressed into a small room inside the emergency room, she suddenly had a needle stuck in her arm.
Continuing, a glass bottle containing a hazy liquid was hung, and two syringes filled with medicine were injected.
“What is it?”
Knowing what it was, Yeoeun grabbed the nurse.
“The clear one is glucose, and the hazy one is a nutritional supplement. The injection that was just administered is a fever reducer and a sedative.”
“A sedative?”
“You’ll feel much better if you rest a bit. Since the IV is going in slowly, take it easy.”

The smiling nurse drew the curtain and left.
“Seo Yeoeun, enjoying the good life.”
A nurse who doesn’t seem to fit this situation.
A bitter smile flowed out, breaking the silence.
From what she heard, her fever had risen to 39 degrees.
It seemed that, unlike usual, her mind was unusually clear, ultimately dulling even her poison.
Yeoeun, lifting the hand without the injection and placing it on her forehead, tightly closed her eyes.
At that moment, the sound of the curtain getting wet was heard.
Even without opening her eyelids, she could tell.
The fragrance that made her heart flutter, cutting through the hospital’s antiseptic smell, seemed to depict Cha Doha’s movements as if he were approaching with the sound.

Silently approaching, he placed his hand on her forehead.
Whether it was the outside air or her intense fever, his hand, which was always warm, was strangely cold.
The coldness, penetrating deep into her heart, felt like it was digging inside.
Quietly, she called him in that state.
“Director Cha.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
