With an indifferent face, Doha tilted his glass of alcohol, his brow furrowing at the sight of a single business card.
Unmoved by the news that his officially known girlfriend, Kim Haeri, was enjoying a secret affair in the next room with a man six years younger, Doha’s reaction to a mere business card seemed somewhat dramatic.
“What is it?”
Lee Han approached, unable to hide his curiosity, but Doha quickly snatched the card.
Rising from his seat, he asked, “Where is she?”
“It’s actor Son Kyu-won…”
At the waiter’s response, a sharp blue light flashed in Doha’s black eyes.
“Son Kyu-won?”
“Yes. Actor Son Kyu-won took that guest to Room Special 1…”
Before the waiter could finish, Doha had already left the room.

Bumping shoulders with Kim Haeri, who was just entering the room, he paid no attention and quickened his pace.
“Oppa!”
Kim Haeri’s voice echoed, calling after him, but he didn’t look back.
The business card unmistakably belonged to Seo Ye-eun, and the memory of Son Kyu-won bullying that woman in front of a whiskey bar in Sinsa-dong flew through his mind.
Special Room 1.
A few men, who seemed like actors, were guarding it. As Doha approached, one of them blocked his way.
“You can’t enter here…”
At that moment, a shrill scream and the sound of something shattering came from inside the room. Simultaneously, Doha grabbed the man blocking him by the collar and threw him aside.
“Move.”
Forcefully opening the door, Doha slowly walked across the floor of the most extravagant Special Room 1 in the Lotus Hotel.

He had rushed to the room like a madman, possessed by something, but the moment he opened the door, his mind cooled.
His heart calmed, and his senses were tranquil.
Only one word echoed in his mind: ‘Seo Ye-eun.’
Stepping firmly on the scattered broken glass, Doha locked eyes with Ye-eun, cornered by Son Kyu-won, holding a broken alcohol bottle.
The reason for the earlier commotion seemed to be that bottle.
With disheveled hair, a red face from holding back tears, fierce brown eyes, a knit hanging off her grey skirt, and a heaving chest in agitation.
‘Even in this situation, she’s pretty.’
As Doha curled one corner of his mouth, thick tears rolled down Ye-eun’s eyes.
The brown eyes that welled up with tears again trembled gently as they captured Doha.
Despite the obvious signs, Son Kyu-won was still acting foolishly.

“Who said you could come in? Get out. Guard the door. I’m going to…”
But he couldn’t finish his sentence.
Doha had grabbed Son Kyu-won by the hair and slammed him onto a nearby table.
As Son Kyu-won screamed and flailed, several chairs tumbled over.
“What kind of idiot are you? If you’re dumb, at least be quick-witted. You’re both stupid and slow.”
Doha’s chilling murderous intent made Son Kyu-won hold his breath.
“Listen well.”
Only then did Son Kyu-won realize the person overpowering him was Doha. He stiffened and shut his eyes tightly.
“Didn’t I make it clear who owns that woman? Do I need to smash your decorative head to make you understand?”
Son Kyu-won’s shoulders shook under Doha’s icy voice.

Doha pressed down harder, then quietly spoke.
“Answer now if you understand.”
“Yes, yes.”
Unable to lift his eyelids, Son Kyu-won whimpered his reply. Doha then released his grip on Son Kyu-won’s hair.
Then Doha’s gaze shifted to Ye-eun, who was trembling and leaning against the wall, her hand holding the alcohol bottle shaking like a leaf in the wind.
Approaching closer, Doha gently took the bottle from her hand, but Ye-eun couldn’t let it go.
“Relax your grip. You’ll hurt yourself.”
Finally, Doha’s hand tenderly enveloped her pale, trembling hand and patted it softly.
“You’re surprisingly high-maintenance, Seo Ye-eun.”
Comforted by the warmth of Doha’s hand slowly stroking the back of hers, Ye-eun’s grip loosened, and the bottle was passed to Doha.
Feeling a sudden sharp pain, Ye-eun clenched her palm.

Doha clicked his tongue briefly.
“You’re cut.”
It seemed to be a wound from smashing the bottle against the wall earlier.
Blood covered her palm, yet she hadn’t felt any pain until now.
Doha lifted her hand to inspect the wound, his eyes hardening.
“I was just going to leave, but…”
His voice, though formless, felt as sharp as a well-honed knife.
Holding her bloodied hand gently, Doha turned around.
“Director Kwon.”
A sound of movement followed his call.

“Get the CCTV footage and call Lawyer Choi. Charge that guy with attempted rape and assault.”
“Are you hurt?”
Another man suddenly invaded Ye-eun’s view, looking alternately at her face and hand.
Then he frowned.
“You’re hurt? Our pretty spy?”
“Stop the nonsense and make the call. And get a first aid kit…”
Another voice interrupted.
“Why do we need a first aid kit? Who’s hurt? Did Son Kyu-won cause another mess?”
It was a voice no Korean citizen could fail to recognize.

Kim Haeri, known as the nation’s goddess, stepped into view.
“Oh my, you’re cut? Did Son Kyu-won do this?”
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
