In the middle of the night, after nearly being killed by a crazed car chasing her and barely being rescued, one of those who saved her happened to be a friend.

On top of that, their eyes met, revealing that she knew their identity.

It seemed that civilians who knew a hero’s identity were problematic, so she couldn’t simply express her gratitude and leave.

In the end, the four people who entered a cafe quite far from the scene where the incident was resolved sat in silence for over a minute at the table.

“Can I get your autograph?”

Surprisingly, it was Jae Kyung who broke the gloomy and awkward atmosphere.

Na Eun stifled a laugh at her boyfriend’s words, which seemed a bit insensitive but cheerful.

The man sitting across from them grinned and retorted.

“I only give them to women. Is it okay if I give it to your girlfriend?”

At those words, Jae Kyung’s expression stiffened oddly.

Blonde dyed hair, tanned skin, and several visible ear piercings.

The man who looked every bit like a delinquent also had a handsome face, making his statement easy to misunderstand if one didn’t know he was a hero who saved people every night.

Wondering whether to get angry or hold back, since they were still his life saviors, Na Eun quickly patted her boyfriend’s cheek before he could decide how to react.

“It’s fine. You said your wish was to get an autograph in person, right? I’ll get it for you instead.”

Where do you want it? At Na Eun’s kind question, Jae Kyung pondered for a moment before blushing and shyly whispering.

“…On the back.”

“Alright, alright.”

While she might not understand everything, Na Eun knew that just as she enjoyed superhero stories from companies like M and D, Jae Kyung watched real-life heroes with a fan’s heart.

Na Eun stripped off the hoodie Jae Kyung was wearing and placed it on the table.

After asking the cafe staff for a marker pen, she handed it to the delinquent-looking hero (that impression was already set in her mind) first.

“Please write it big here. It would be nice if you could add the date we met too.”

“Should I add ‘with love’ or something like that?”

“Yes. And please write ‘TO Jae Kyung’ below that.”

“Is that your name?”

“Yes.”

Pfft. Jae Kyung, who had been drinking coffee with a straw behind them, tried to hold back his laughter.

There’s no point in telling him the name since we won’t see him again after today anyway.

Na Eun nodded calmly, lying to the man who was openly flirting.

The man seemed to notice her lie from Jae Kyung’s reaction, but just shrugged amusedly and started signing the back of the hoodie with practiced ease.

His form was as skillful as a celebrity’s, suggesting he had done this many times before. It seemed there were quite a few fans who requested his autograph besides Jae Kyung.

When the man finished signing, Na Eun briefly thanked him and then turned the marker pen towards the man next to him.

“Since we’re at it, you sign too.”

“…”

Seung Joo, who had been sitting next to the pierced man with a sour expression while only eating parfait, scrunched up his face like crumpled paper.

“What are you talking about.”

“Oh, come on. Jae Kyung is your fan too.”

“…”

Seung Joo let out a disbelieving laugh.

Finding this situation ridiculous, Seung Joo had just been holding his parfait, but finally took the pen, unable to resist Na Eun’s steady gaze that showed no intention of backing down.

“You write ‘with love’ too.”

“…Ah, seriously.”

Though annoyed, Seung Joo complied with Na Eun’s request and wrote the cheesy message. He then set down the marker pen roughly.

And then he spat out the words he had been holding back, like a machine gun.

“Even if it’s a date, why are you wandering around so late and causing this mess?”

Saying she could have died like today, and scolding her for flirting with her boyfriend late at night instead of studying like a proper high school senior, Na Eun shot back without backing down.

“I still study better than you, you know?”

“Hey, if I hadn’t been doing this and just focused on studying, I would have done as well as you!”

Claiming he was originally very smart, Na Eun retorted to her friend who was arguing defensively.

“If you’re so smart, why did you make eye contact with me there!”

You should have just pretended not to see me and passed by!

“Because you were staring so obviously!”

“Ah, whatever! It’s all ruined because of you!”

Na Eun collapsed onto the table with a despairing expression.

“What’s ruined?”

Jae Kyung, who had preciously received back his hoodie and was hugging it, asked with puzzled eyes.

He seemed surprised to learn that his girlfriend had a hero as a close friend, while also wondering why Na Eun had known but never shown any signs of it.

Na Eun, seeing no reason to hide it anymore, spilled out her thoughts.

“Jae Kyung, we’re ruined now. We’ve gone from just civilians 1 and 2 to becoming friends with heroes. Do you know what that means?”

Na Eun raised her upper body that had been slumped on the table and grabbed Jae Kyung’s sleeve, shaking it as if venting her frustration.

“It means we could get caught up in the accidents he causes!”

“Accidents? Hey, I’m one of the most well-behaved at our center, you know?”

Seung Joo frowned, setting his parfait on the table with a thud, looking dumbfounded.

Na Eun, seemingly not hearing Seung Joo’s words at all, rattled on like a machine gun.

“Look at the main character’s friends in Sp****man. You know they all suffer terribly, right? And that’s not all. Why do you think Ba**an has no friends? There’s a reason heroes are lonely!”

“Hmm…”

“Later, villains might kidnap us to use as bait!”

Just as Jae Kyung’s expression was about to turn a bit strange at Na Eun’s worries, which came out like lamentations as she shook his arm, the blonde man sitting across from them was chuckling, his shoulders shaking as if something was very funny. Seung Joo inhaled deeply, as if exasperated.

Feeling a bit hurt by his friend’s words about not wanting to be involved, Seung Joo jabbed with a sharp tone.

“Hey, who said they’re going to kidnap you? You’re not that precious to me, you know?”

“You wouldn’t come to rescue me if I got kidnapped?”

“…I would go, but!”

“See, uhuhuhu!”

Na Eun, who whimpered as if Seung Joo’s confirmation that he would come to save her was a death sentence, collapsed into Jae Kyung’s arms.

“We’re doomed now… He doesn’t even have a girlfriend, so I’ll have to fill the role of the kidnapped heroine!”

“Do you want to die?”

Seung Joo clenched his fist as if he was really going to hit her for mocking his lack of a girlfriend like this.

And what’s with all this kidnapping talk? I told you to stop watching so many movies! As Seung Joo berated her, Jae Kyung hugged Na Eun protectively and smiled.

“Sorry, you know Na Eun is a fan of superhero stories. Please understand, she’s just getting too immersed.”

At the mature apology that summarized the situation, Seung Joo just frowned and averted his gaze.

There was an awkward distance between him and his close friend’s boyfriend of almost a year – not close, but not unfamiliar either – so he couldn’t speak as comfortably as he did with Na Eun.

Na Eun, who had been finding stability in Jae Kyung’s comforting embrace for a while, suddenly sat up straight as if something had occurred to her and asked.

“By any chance, is there something like… a technology that erases memories?”

“You really have watched a lot of movies.”

The man who had been fiddling with his ear piercings muttered with a smirk.

“We can crumple cars with our hands, why wouldn’t we have that kind of ability?”

“We’re ability users, not magicians.”

“What does ‘ability user’ mean?”

When Jae Kyung inadvertently asked about the new term that came out of Seung Joo’s mouth, Na Eun hastily covered Jae Kyung’s mouth.

“Jae Kyung, don’t ask! Don’t know! We shouldn’t know any more than this! We must not know anything!”

“You really are good at studying. Smart.”

The pierced man nodded, seemingly satisfied with Na Eun’s words, and smiled.

“That’s right. Don’t try to know more. Don’t dig deeper. I don’t know about you, but we’re actually very busy despite appearances. Why do you think we’re taking time out of our busy schedules to sit here idly in a cafe with coffee?”

The implication was clear – keep your mouth shut about what you’ve seen and heard today. The smile on the man’s face as he said this somehow felt cold.

The delinquent vibe from earlier faded, and just as Na Eun was about to flinch at the suddenly changed atmosphere, Seung Joo, who had been stirring his parfait with a teaspoon, opened his mouth with a grumpy expression.

“You don’t have to worry about that. She’s known who we are since freshman year but pretended not to know until the end.”

At those words, Na Eun looked at her in disbelief.

“You… you guys… knew and still acted like that? No wonder there was zero effort to hide it!”

Faced with Na Eun’s eyes full of betrayal, Seung Joo shrugged nonchalantly and said.

“You were so obviously pretending not to know that we got more and more comfortable.”

Na Eun’s mouth fell open.

“…Can I curse?”

“Your boyfriend will hear, but go ahead if you want.”

My fists are crying.

Should I hit her? I really want to punch her… No, I should hold back. It’ll only hurt my hand.

As Na Eun, having made a rational decision, glared at her annoying friend with narrowed eyes, the blonde man who had been watching and enjoying the situation for a while finally caught his breath after holding his aching stomach from laughter and dropped a bombshell.

“If you spread what happened today around, I’ll kill you.”

“…”

“Both of you.”

Na Eun’s face turned pale at the smoothly delivered death threat.

Jae Kyung also widened his eyes, not expecting a hero who saves people to say such things.

The blonde man, still comfortably sprawled on the sofa, continued smiling as he spoke.

“I don’t know about the other members, but I don’t really care if civilians die.”

How many die, who dies. If you care about every little thing like that, it becomes hard to do this job.

“Even if I killed you two to maintain secrecy, those above wouldn’t be able to say much to me. That’s how valuable we are as personnel. So don’t make me worry unnecessarily and just keep your mouths shut. Okay?”

His gentle tone, as if soothing a lover, carried a sharp threat within.

You understand, right? As he asked for confirmation, Na Eun, who had been staring at him with a hardened face, instinctively turned her gaze to her friend sitting next to him.

The friend she had joked around with and stuck close to for three years at school was now just silently eating his parfait with an unfamiliarly cold expression.

He neither contradicted nor denied the blonde man’s words.

Seeing Seung Joo’s expressionless face that she had never seen before, Na Eun felt a chill run down her spine.

It felt as if someone she had known for a long time had suddenly gone far away.

While feeling scared, she tried not to show the strange sense of disappointment rising from the pit of her stomach as she tightly gripped Jae Kyung’s hand next to her.

“…Yes. I won’t tell anyone.”

Never. No matter what happens.

Satisfied with Na Eun’s answer, which she uttered as if making a vow, the blonde man praised her with a smile.

As expected, you deserve to be good at studying. You’re really smart.

When the male lead is punished by carrying the female lead’s child and having periods like a woman
